Shipping

FREE USPS SHIPPING is available without a coupon code on all US orders outside of Alaska over $99 and FREE Alaska ground shipping for orders over $49!

Our products are made in small batches using freshly rendered tallow. To ensure you receive the highest quality product, we produce a limited quantity of inventory monthly. Be sure to subscribe to our emails and check out Instagram or Facebook for product availability updates.

Please allow 3-5 business days for packing and processing of in stock items and an additional 5+ days for shipping depending on location. You will receive a tracking email when your box is packed and another email when your order is complete and at the post office.

Alaska ground shipping typically takes a few days within Southcentral. USPS Priority mail ensures packages traveling outside of Alaska (or to rural areas) get to you as soon as possible to maintain quality. Ground shipping outside Alaska is available in winter months only, but please use your discretion as tallow can melt above 80 degrees.

If there are shipping related issues, please file a USPS claim. Please follow the tracking information to ensure your product isn’t left in the heat too long, as it may melt. We are unable to accept returns for melted products, so please use caution when ordering in summer months.

Caring for Your Products

  • Due to the natural variations in the tallow and the handmade nature of our products, the texture may vary from batch to batch even with the same formula.
  • These products are real and we do not use preservatives in our tallow. Please use with clean, dry hands or a small scoop to prevent introducing moisture and bacteria.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigeration is not required but this can extend the shelf life.
  • Oil drops may form on the surface of solid balms due to temperature fluctuations.
  • Texture may change with temperature but the products are still safe to use.
  • For best results and quality, use within the timeframe specified on each jar.
  • A little goes a LONG way! Start with a pea-sized amount or less for hands or face. If you notice it feels oily for more than just a minute or two, consider using less product for the next application.

FAQs

What is tallow?

Tallow is the product rendered from the hard fat that surrounds the kidneys (suet) on any ruminant animal. It is solid at room temperature and has been used for centuries in various applications. In skin care, tallow is valued for its nourishing properties, as it has some similarities to the oil found in human skin. Our tallow is sourced from all Alaska grown, pasture-raised cattle and rendered in house to ensure purity and sustainability in our skin care products.

I’ve heard tallow is vitamin-rich and identical to our skin or sebum. Is that true?

While I wish this was true, every lab test available to date shows there is very little vitamin E and K, and not enough vitamin A or D to register. Vitamin B is water-soluble and is found in the meat, but not in the fat. Tallow is high in stearic, palmitic, and oleic acids, but very low in lineoleic, lineolenic (omega 3) and other fatty acids. Honesty and transparency is important to you, so we go off actual scientific data. This doesn’t mean tallow isn’t fantastic for your skin, but that what we add matters! We specifically choose carrier oils and infused ingredients to create an amazing blend to compliment the fatty acids found in tallow.

Does it smell like beef?
Let’s be real -- this comes from an animal. However, when customers have been asked to determine which sample was our plain tallow, most are shocked as there is virtually no smell. The unscented, infused balms like Resurrection do have a sweet, grassy, earthy scent from the plants.

Why are some infused plants not labeled as organic?

Any plant that is primarily wild harvested cannot be labeled as organic, as it isn't certified. Any plant that is sourced from outside Alaska is typically organic and notated. To prevent over harvesting, we only gather what we know will be used. If at some point prior to the next harvest the dried, wild supply runs out, we source organically if possible or the product will be listed out of stock.

Ingredient Spotlight

small clay pot of tallow

Tallow

Tallow is certainly seeing a lot of buzz these days, but it’s been used as a skin moisturizer by various cultures around the world for ages! Slow-rendered in house using only the hard, nutrient-rich fat that surrounds the kidneys (suet), all of our tallow comes from a family-run cattle farm in Delta Junction, Alaska.

Carrier Oils

Our whipped tallow balms feature a signature balanced oil blend. After countless hours of research, pages and pages of calculations for each fatty acid and vitamin level, and numerous formulations, we chose to combine tallow with organic, cold-pressed jojoba, rosehip seed, and sweet almond oils to achieve a smooth, rich texture that’s incredible for your skin. Adding these gives the tallow a boost of nutrients as well as linoleic, linolenic and gadoleic fatty acids.
